Difference Between Insulin Syringes and Needles 1ml, 0.5ml & 0.3ml

Difference Between Insulin Syringes and Needles 1ml, 0.5ml & 0.3ml

In this article we will discuss the different insulin syringes and needle size, does the needle length matter? and which syringe should you go for? 1ml, 0.5ml or 0.3ml?

RayMed.co.uk has 3 different sizes of insulin syringes, 1ml, 0.5ml and 0.3ml, these syringes are used for insulin vials (not included). You also have the option to choose needle gauge, 29G and 30G.

People with type 1 diabetes (insulin resistant) are required to inject insulin on a daily basis. This can be a painful task, choosing the syringe shouldn't!

    The above image shows

Depending on what your doctor has prescribed, you can choose which size to go for when selecting from our wide range. Remember insulin is required to be injected in the subcutaneous region which is above the intramuscular section. Therefore every individual will have different thickness of subcutaneous tissue.

29g and 30g insulin syringe hypodermic needle

The above image both show a 1ml insulin syringe but with different hypodermic needle size. Image on the left has a needle width of 0.3mm and a length of 12.7mm. image on the right has a needle width of 0.30mm and a length of 8mm. Having both needle sizes will be beneficial for those rotating injection site. The 29g can be used if you have more subcutaneous tissue (higher levels of fat) and the 30g can be used by those who have lower body fat. Some people with high body fat prefer the 30G needle as the width is smaller resulting in less pain!

RayMed's insulin syringes are all individually packed, sterile and CE marked to insure the highest quality products are given to every individual. These can also be used on animals such as cats and dogs who require daily injections.

If you require between 0.5ml and 1ml of insulin units, selecting the 1ml syringe will give you the highest level of accuracy when injecting. However if you need less than 0.5ml units of insulin per injection, you will benefit by using the 0.5ml syringe as the syringe is smaller and the unit marking are more spaced out allowing more movement to get your desired level of insulin.
